I am starting a series on influential people who inspired me to change the way I eat and live my life. We can all learn from those who work hard and inspire us to become a better person. The first person on this much anticipated list is the man who really made me look at my health and think, wow if he can do it so can I. I am talking about one of the most famous and influential Ultra Endurance athletes ever, Rich Roll. Some of you might have heard of Rich he is an amazing vegan athlete. I have…

“Three phrases that sum up Christmas are: Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men, and Batteries not Included.” – English Proverb During the holiday season we all need to save more money. Each year it seems there are more and more ways to part with our hard earned money. We all have that family member or friend who spends half a years salary buying the perfect gifts for everyone.  You know who I am talking about. They buy one friend a 1 year subscription to the “Beer of the Month” club, another friend gets the latest tech toy or if you…

By eating meat we share the responsibility of climate change, the destruction of our forests, and the poisoning of our air and water. The simple act of becoming a vegetarian will make a difference in the health of our planet.” – Thich Nhat Hanh Recently I watched Vegan 2017 on YouTube. It’s a really good documentary on the vegan movement and healthy eating/what’s good for the environment. I highly recommend watching the movie. I am slowly transitioning to a Whole Foods Plant based diet, which is the less political version of a Vegan diet. The Whole Foods Plant based diet…

Black Friday should actually be called “The Hunger Games”.  Because people kill each other and the winner get a $20 crock pot! Did you spend till your heart’s desire over the 4 day weekend? The average American spent $967 over the Black Friday weekend event. That is a lot of dough! I guess I am not average then. I did not buy a thing the entire 4 days. I did look and thought about a few purchases. My theory is this, the more I spend on things I don’t need, the more I will have to work and put off…

Skip Black Friday shopping madness and spend the day outside instead. For us frugal types this is a no-brainer, we do not care to be anywhere near a mall or shopping center on this day. Yes there are great deals to be had. But, for the most part, it’s all useless junk we don’t need anyways.    It is estimated that the average Black Friday shopper will spend close to $967.13 during the 4 day event. The world’s largest brick and mortar retailer Wal*Mart attracted more than 22 million people to its stores last year on Black Friday alone. More…

The average American eats approximately 270.7 pounds of meat a year. Only 1 other country eats more meat than us in the world the tiny country of Luxembourg, which consumes 301.4 pounds per person. The average American male weighs in at 196 pounds. Just think about this the typical American male eats a person and a half each year in meat. Amazing, shocking, saddening YES, these are all adjectives I would use to describe our addiction to meat.  Today is Meatless Monday!  What is Meatless Monday you may ask? Meatless Monday is a global movement started in 2003 by Sid Lerner…

Did you know that sugar is 8 times as addictive as cocaine? Think about that for a moment. The sweetener you add to your morning coffee or tea is more addicting than Booger Sugar also known as (aka) Cocaine. Scientists have determined that sugar lights up the brain like a Christmas tree, it’s also the same part that cocaine is stimulated by.    Scary isn’t it? Something we love and eat daily is worse for us than illegal drugs! Soda is one of the worst culprits when it comes to sugar. Which has more sugar Coke or Mountain Dew? Both…
